There and back again by Kim Bouman 15-12-2008

My name is Kim Bouman and currently I am the youngest member of the Stay Sail crew.

I was born on July 22, 1986 just outside Copenhagen. Unfortunately of my first few years in Denmark I don't have too many memories left, but I did not live there very long, because at age five I moved with my mother to the Netherlands (Haarlem).

There my mother, in my time at school, met a man (Ton Vermeer) that made up for the lack of a father and still does. They got married and he has now been promoted from Ton to Dad. He has brought me in contact with waterpolo, the sport I to this day still practice.
After I changed schools (from Haarlem to Vijfhuizen), I started making music. First I played guitar and much later, I even took some singing lessons and taught myself a little drumming, bass and keyboard.

When I was fourteen and got no more pocket money, I decided to find a job. Therefore I ended up at Stayokay Haarlem (former NJHC). Here I used my knowledge of languages and expanded it at the same time.

In high school I have been part of a school band, but that bled to death quickly enough due to lack of time and motivation.
I got some music experience out of this and this later led to the creation of the metalband Spartan with the same drummer.

After high school I studied two years, one years physiotherapy and one year Cesartherapy. None of these studies proved to be my thing, and I therefore decided to take a year of from studying.

In this time Ton had the idea to make cruises on the Baltic with a tugboat. However this did not work out for different reasons.
At that point we put our heads together and combined plans for boats in Denmark  with my love for the hotel. That is where idea and principle of Stay Sail.Danmark emerged from.

In coming to Denmark goodbye had to be said to a lot of things like sports, music, work and friends. The challenge however lies in the reconstruction of all these things in Denmark
The whole principle together with the placeof our new house is more than enough stimulation for all this to continue. I would like to help people using my experience and knowledge and show them how beautiful Denmark can be.
